A new addition to the Freak synthesizer line
Arturia has released a new toy, MiniFreak.
Overview
‘MiniFreak is a polyphonic hybrid keyboard that unites dual digital sound engines with analog filters, playful modulation, instinctive sequencing, and rich stereo effects for sounds that are immediately curious, beautiful, and chaotic in equal measure.’
This new digital hybrid synth is the next step up from the MircoFreak, released in 2019 and is anything but mini.
The MiniFreak has double the oscillators, six voices instead of four, built-in effects and a more traditional keyboard.
Ok so it is fairly compact but this is Arturia’s biggest digital hardware synth to date with a 37-note keyboard which should delight MircoFreak users.
Before I get to the price, I should also mention that there is a free dedicated VST plugin version of the synth included, which means users can incorporate sounds into a DAW.
MiniFreak is priced around £530 / €599, click here to find a retailer.
