Joe Chialo, Berlin’s Senator for Culture, has announced a €947 million culture fund for 2024.

The funding, which is €13 million more than this year’s budget, will go towards adding 500 new spaces to Berlin’s present 2,000-strong roster, with the goal of doubling the amount of state-owned cultural spaces by 2030, according to Euronews.

New spaces will include nightclubs, venues, museums, and theatres with existing venues, like Komische Oper planned for renovation.

In a statement Chialo said “We want to make Berlin the most attractive cultural city in the world,”. “This fund will help us to achieve that goal by supporting new and existing cultural spaces, and by making culture more accessible to everyone.”
