Apranik Records Presents Their New Iranian Women-Led Compilation

Apranik Records is back with a second various artist compilation of 2023, ‘Intended Consequence‘, featuring a new lineup of Iranian women musicians and producers from throughout the electronic music spectrum.

This new release ‘Intended Consequence‘ follows Apranik’s first VA ‘Woman, Life, Freedom‘, which was released in reaction to the women-led uprisings in Iran following the killing of Mahsa Zhina Amini.

This new compilation features tracks from label co-founders AIDA and Nesa Azadikhah, as well as some of Iran’s most talented musicians and sound artists, including Rojin Sharafi, Aida Shirazi, Ava Rasti, and others. Committed to expressing the stories of Iranian women perpetual fight for freedom in Iran, this release illustrates strength, resistance, and persistence in periods of chaos or calm.

From the experimental, glitchy club rhythms of AZADI.mp3’s ‘Empty Platform‘ to Abji_hypersun’s clattering jungle stylings of ‘Resist The God Trick‘, to the warm breakbeats of Nesa Azadikhah’s ‘Perpetual‘ and shimmering 4/4 loops of AIDA’s ‘Ode To Expectations‘, this is a proudly diverse and fiercely individual collection of tracks from some of the most talented female artists in electronic music today.

Other tracks on the compilation include Rojin Sharafi’s ‘Dbkkk‘, a track infused with both beauty and raw aggression, and Farzané’s ‘Quorl‘, a highly experiential, fluid cut that pulses with both organic and mechanical sentience, creating a deeply unsettling and memorable atmosphere.

As with the last release, proceeds from this new compilation will be donated to charities that help women and marginalised groups in Iran.
